Project

Help navigating services

A small trained group who sit with people through Centrelink, housing and school paperwork — and who know which service to send somebody to when it is not us.

What it is trying to achieve

Nobody who asks us for help gets passed in a circle: one person stays with them until they reach the right service.

This is an example entry — replace before launch.

Several people already do this informally, on their own time, for whoever knows to ask them. The project is about making that easier and less lonely, not about replacing it.

Where it is up to

Mapping which services already exist and what each one actually covers, so we do not duplicate work that is already funded and done well. That map becomes a resource on this site either way.

What happens next

Recruit and train a first group of five. Agree what we will and will not do — in particular, we do not give migration or legal advice, and part of the training is knowing when to stop and refer.

Want to be part of this?

Send us an email and say what you would like to do — help run it, take part in it, or something we have not thought of. Somebody reads every one.
