Homework helper

Sit with high-school students while they work, and help when they get stuck. You do not need to be a teacher.

This is an example entry — replace before launch.

Most of what students need is somebody sitting nearby who takes the work seriously. If you are comfortable with high-school maths and English you will be more than useful; if you are not, you can still keep the room calm and notice who is struggling.

What you would do

  • Arrive a few minutes early and help set up
  • Work with two or three students across the session
  • Tell the coordinator anything you are worried about

What we ask

A Working with Children Check, which we will help you apply for — it is free for volunteers. And enough consistency that the students know your face.
